The Trinity FoundationThe present church was opened for worship on 26th August 1879. With the original church (the Bluestone Hall dating from 1858) and the 1865 Rectory, it comprises an historic precinct in the centre of the city. In 2006 a storm caused damage to the tower when concrete was dislodged by hail. The slate roof was also damaged. The concrete copings were replaced with Gosford sandstone and the timber louvres were renewd; the worn and torn zinc cladding was replaced with copper. These works cost $506,000 and were carried out by specialists from Sydney. A separate project saw the installation of a peal of eight bells which were dedicated in 2007. The next priority item is the repair of the badly worn rose window on the West end. After this, the roof above the sanctuary will be examined and the the box gutters and drains repaired. Conservation of the stained glass and repairs to the organ are also anticipated. The church is currently being rewired. |
