On Saturday 26th April, as part of the farewell activities for Archdeacon Frank Hetherington, the Church Bells rang a 'full peal' between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. This involved both local and visiting bellringers and was conducted by the Chief Bellringer of Saint Andrew's Cathedral. This was the first time a 'full peal' was rung at Holy Trinity, and the occasion was enjoyed by many people from the local community. On Sunday 27th, the church was filled for Archdeacon Hetherington's final Service in the Parish at which he preached. Bishop Ian Palmer was present, and presented the Archdeacon with a Bishop's Commendation immediately following the Farewell Liturgy. The Farewell Luncheon was attended by approximately 260 people, during which speeches were made by the Bishop, local dignitaries and parishioners, and followed by presentations. One feature of the occasion was a colourful display of balloons depicting many stages in the life of Frank and Marilyn. Whilst Archdeacon Hetherington and his wife, Marilyn, will be greatly missed in the Parish, the day's activities were seen as a very fitting celebration of their 14 years service here and of good wishes for their future.
